Building Contractor Advisory Service
The Office of Fair Trading is aware of the difficulties facing builders and trade contractors during these challenging economic times.
The Building Contractor Advisory Service (BCAS) has been established to provide free, confidential, business management and insolvency information and assistance to licensed building contractors operating in the residential building industry in NSW.
The service will operate for a 12-month pilot period commencing in May 2009.

Help for all situations
The BCAS is designed to assist builders and tradespeople make sound business decisions or deal with a challenging business situation in the most appropriate manner.
It is also to provide advice to any licensed builder or tradesperson who is concerned about an impending insolvency situation.
Where necessary, callers to the BCAS will be referred to other professionals such as solicitors, accountants and debt collectors, who have volunteered their initial advice for BCAS clients.
Expert, confidential advice

The operation of the BCAS is independent of Fair Trading and any confidential information you provide will not be made available to Fair Trading or any other government agency.

The free-call telephone service is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by fully qualified and experienced insolvency professionals. As a telephone only service, the BCAS does not provide written advice.
